Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
Material properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
PET-C is an unreinforced, semi-crystalline polyester, a thermoplastic with unusually high hardness, rigidity and dimensional stability. The excellent sliding behaviour with very low wear makes PET-C the ideal material for precision machine elements with sliding functions.
PET-C is characterized by good wear resistance both at high pressures as well as at high speeds. It is also ideally suited for applications where metals and plastic surfaces slide against each other.
Many parts in food production and food processing plants are made of PET-C, which meets the strict tolerance requirements and can also be cleaned very easily using chemicals.
APSOplast® PET-C, natural (white), black
The specific properties of PET-C make this material a particularly the preferred material for mechanical precision and wear parts.
APSOplast® PET-C SL (PET-C + solid lubricant), grey
This material has a homogeneously distributed solid lubricant. Through this specific material composition results in a unique self-lubricating slide bearing material. This material not only has a very high wear resistance, but also offers an even lower coefficient of sliding friction and higher dynamic load-bearing capacity compared to PET-C.
